News, 26 September 2026
Sierra Leone has added two cheaper citizenship-by-investment routes and raised the price of its ancestry-based “Heritage” route, with the changes taking effect on 1 October 2026. The new Solo Entrepreneur route costs US$95,000 plus a US$5,000 due diligence fee, so US$100,000 in total, for a single applicant with no dependants and no DNA test, per IMI Daily and Savory & Partners, which cite programme architect Stephen Barnes. A second new route, Enterprise Citizenship, lets two unrelated main applicants apply together at US$80,000 each plus one shared US$5,000 due diligence fee (US$165,000 combined), again with no dependants.
The Heritage route, which requires a DNA test showing African ancestry, rises from US$100,000 to US$120,000 for the main applicant, plus the US$5,000 due diligence fee; dependant fees are unchanged. The family-friendly Fast-Track route stays at US$140,000, and the “Plus One” add-on for one unrelated adult stays at US$30,000. Per Savory & Partners, company incorporation, previously bundled, is now optional. Immigrant Invest reports that applications are submitted online with no travel to Sierra Leone required.
The routes sit under GO-FOR-GOLD, run by master agents TG 2050 Ltd and Hong Kong Visa Centre, per IMI Daily. Sierra Leone’s Immigration Department announced the naturalisation pathways in January 2025, after the gold-backed residency launched in December 2024. Per IMI Daily, citizenship is granted under the President’s discretion in the Citizenship Act 1973, and a Citizenship (Special Naturalization) Regulation, 2026 is still pending. We could not find a government page publishing the October 2026 prices; the figures above come from the agents and trade press.
What it means for you
Cheap does not mean mobile. Atlys’s 2026 passport ranking puts Sierra Leone 72nd, with visa-free entry to 41 destinations and visa on arrival in 26. Sierra Leoneans need a visa for the Schengen area. Under a 16 December 2025 presidential proclamation, effective 1 January 2026, the US has fully suspended entry of Sierra Leone nationals as immigrants and non-immigrants (check for later changes). Because there is no EU visa-free access, the EU’s new power to suspend visa waivers over golden passports (Regulation (EU) 2025/2441) has nothing to take away. The risk is the other way: CBI countries are under growing scrutiny, and this programme is young, discretionary and not yet set in statute. If you still want a hedge passport, run your own checks on the agent, get every fee in writing, and get independent legal advice before you pay.
